Introduction

Established in 1969, the Department of Mathematics Education at Chungbuk National University has produced 1,365 graduates who contribute to the field of mathematics education as middle school teachers, college professors, and researchers in education. Our department has achieved recognition as one of the top departments of mathematics education. In 2015, our department received highest ratings in the National Assessment of Education Program conducted by the government.

Our department has designed and optimized the mathematics education program to extensively prepare our graduates for their careers in the digital era and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We aspire to develop knowledgeable, responsive teachers with in-depth knowledge and skills in mathematics as well as methods of best practices for teaching.

Our department offers courses in mathematics education and field teaching practice program that enable our students to develop the knowledge, skills, and disposition of teachers. Through our program, we aim to help students clarify and understand their vocational goals as teachers as well as the importance of education; thus, we are committed to producing educational professionals who are committed to teaching learners in a changing global world.

The Department of Mathematics Education at Chungbuk National University offers a number of courses: Mathematics Education, Algebra, Analysis, Geometry, Topology, Probability and Statistics, and Applied Mathematics. Students are also required to complete a course in education, acquire teaching practice, and participate in voluntary activities.
